There are 12 Rashis (Pure Zodiac signs and not bhavas) and 27 Nakshtras in our Vedic Astrology
The 360 degree of the Zodiac is divided in 12 Signs or Rashis comprising of fixed 30 degrees. Similarly, 360 degrees are divided in 27 constellations / nakshtras comprising of 13 degrees 20 minutes each. Each nakshtra is further divided into four sub-divisions called charans consisting of 3 degrees 20 minutes each.
